Strong Man Lodge is among the oldest existing Masonic lodges in England.
Based in central London, we uphold the Freemasonry values of integrity, friendship, respect and service.
Countdown to our 300th Anniversary:
Established in the City of London, Strong Man Lodge No. 45 is one of England’s oldest Masonic lodges, with roots going back nearly three centuries. Rich in historic artefacts, legendary members, and unique customs, Strong Man Lodge continues to symbolise fellowship and resilience within Freemasonry.
By their very nature, Freemasons have a charitable disposition and so it is hardly surprising that kindness and charitable giving are deeply ingrained within the principles of Freemasonry. Strongman Lodge supports the Masonic Charitable Foundation’s national and international efforts and we also support initiatives along with our fellow lodges based in London.
An Almoner is key to providing care to our members, their families, widows, dependants and resigned Freemasons who may be experiencing difficulties in their life.
Why "Strong Man" you ask? It all goes back to the landlord of a tavern in East London in the early 18th century, whose physical strength was such that even Houdini wrote about him. But our history begins even earlier, with the medieval stonemasons who built castles, cathedrals, and other magnificent edifices that we still see today.
